Camión Todo Terreno 5 t gl (MAN)

The vehicle shown here is a 5 t MAN truck fitted with two 2300 l fuel tanks and pump. Vehicles of this type are deployed in fuel transport platoons of the divisional logistics battalions and brigade transport companies. When the situation permits, fuel trucks like the one shown here may operate as mobile gas stations, meeting combat vehicles in the field and refueling them directly. Of course, a group of vehicles bunched together during refueling makes an excellent target for enemy aircraft or artillery, which is why combat vehicles are typically refueled by hand, using 20 l fuel canisters dropped off at designated locations. Bundeswehr armoured and mechanized units have their own supply companies who are in charge of transporting palettized ammunition and fuel canisters near the combat zone.

The MAN 630 L2A was a standard 5 t utility vehicle of the Bundeswehr until replaced by second generation MAN N 4510 and N 4610 trucks. Its angular shape makes the MAN 630 an attractive model for collectors, diorama builders and wargamers.
